Zero Emission Norwegian Gas Risavika Fact Sheet: Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Project *

*Note: There has been no news on this project since 2007

Company/Alliance: ZENG AS, Shell Technology Norway, Statoil, Lyse and Gassnova

Location: Risavika, Stavanger, Norway

Feedstock: Natural Gas

Size: 50-70 MW

Capture Technology: Oxy fuel combustion

CO2 Fate: Undetermined

Timing: Original Timing: Phase 1: concept & feasibility study for 40 MW zero-emission power plant (2004-2006), Phase 2: concept definition study for 50-70 MW zero-emission demonstration plant (2007) and investment decision (2008)

Motivation/Economics:

ZENG AS is currently undertaking the second half of the NOK 7.9 million (US$1.3 million) concept definition study towards an investment decision. ZENG AS was established in May 2006 to help structure and formalize the development process and to enable international commercialization of the technology. The shareholders are Lyse Energi AS, CO2-Norway AS, Nebb Engineering AS and Procom Venture AS.

Comments:

One of the technologies being considered is a gas generator developed by Clean Energy Systems, USA that allows for combustion of natural gas and oxygen to form CO2 and steam. Investment decision will occur in 2008.
